Adding Customization to an Existing Wholesale Model

A request to customize an existing model should make the proposed differences explicit. Start with the current specification and consider branding, packaging and product changes separately.

Identify the unchanged model

Record the model reference, version and included components. Keep reference photographs with the specification. This provides a baseline for discussing a change without accidentally replacing the original requirements with a different model.

Separate packaging and product requests

List each requested change and ask whether it is available for the selected version. Branding or packaging changes should not be treated as equivalent to changes in the product itself. Keep the supplier's response attached to each item.

Ask what the change affects

Confirm whether the proposed change affects quantities, scheduling, sample review or available documentation. Do not assume that an existing model makes every customization straightforward or removes the need for review.

Record the agreed version

Summarize the approved specification and outstanding questions before proceeding. Use that version when reviewing quotations and later correspondence. A clear change record is more useful than a general claim that an OEM-ready program automatically reduces risk.
